Single Crochet Stitch

In english books, you can read it like this...   sc .

In an international book that uses symbols, read it like this or you may see it to be this way ....  or

A single crochet stitch is one of the easiest stitches to master.

Step 1: Insert the hook through the two upper strands of the stitch to be worked (making three loops on the hook).

Step 2: Catch the yarn over the hook and draw it through the two upper strands of the stitch.

Step 3: Catch the yarn again and draw it through the remaining two loops on the hook. One loop remains on the hook. One single crochet stitch made.

When working the first row of the single crochet stitch on a foundation chain, start your first stitch in the second chain from the hook and always chain 1 to turn when the first stitch on the next row is to be a single crochet stitch.
