My Crocheted Project Christmas Gift

Here are some of my crochet project that I will be giveng as christmas gifts for my relatives and close friends, not to mention their names for privacy reasons.

I just crochet these from October to this day and here it is, I had to share. I know it's cold where they are specially now as its winter season so I made some wearable long sleeves, shawl , scarf and hat to keep them warm, pouches and bag for their accessories. I still have some of my crocheted gift items that are not included in this photo.

Some crocheted projects are my personal patterns and some are from japanese books

Crochet Gift Ideas II

While Rheema had her chickenpox, I had to take a vacation leave for one week from work. While she's on one of her naps I just made these projects.

What a wonderful thing that as a crochet lover we can use our spare time in a more productive way.

Catching New Crochet Ideas

Every year I hear people saying that they are in a Christmas shopping panic or they are in a hurry because the Christmas season is approaching. But as crocheters we make a gift year round even without any season or holiday.

And as a crocheter, our family and friends know that we love to crochet a lot, and when holiday comes they are expecting a crocheted gift from us (again).

Of course any occasion, we use our crocheted project as crochet gift, and I know some of them know that already without opening their gift box/bag from us, with hopes they are not yet bored of that.

Usually we have so many (PHD) Project Half Done in our bags/boxes. Last night I just finished 2 projects in one sitting. It just a seaming and edging and yet I left it half done when I could have finished it in no time. Well, maybe that’s one of crocheter’s problem.

How to Crochet a Bow Headband

My daughter didn't want to put her hair in a ponytail,  she loves to let her hair fall on her shoulder. I made a ponytail for her to use but she refuses.

So I made her a bow headband instead to keep her hair away from her face and her eyes. She loves it! hmmm, think this might make a nice gift too.

Here is the pattern on how to make this bow headband. Enjoy crocheting!

Learning: A Never Ending Process

I met my mother’s friend when I was in high school and she loved to crochet too.

After 10 years, we saw each other again. When I saw her, she saw me crocheting so, she told me to visit her place to show me her projects. When I visited her, she had everything crocheted. From bags, curtains, purses, pouches and clothes.

That time I had no idea yet how to crochet bigger projects. I remember she taught me one stitch. This stitch I used to make a blanket for my nephew when he was still a baby.

Girlie's 5-point Star Christmas Ornament

Christmas is approaching and I know every crocheter is busy making gift projects for all their loved ones.

While thinking about what project I could make, I was looking at our window and I wondered, what if I crocheted a star as a Christmas tree ornament?

I know many of us are preparing a Christmas tree so I decided I wanted to make a 5-star Christmas tree Ornament.

Now I want to share my first  5-point Star Christmas tree Ornament. Enjoy Crocheting! If you have any questions, feel free to leave a message.

How Do You Start Your Crochet Ball?

From Inside or Outside?

From time to time, we go to my mother’s flower shop. When we visit there we usually stay in her office for 5-6hrs. Visiting my mom is fun for my daughter since one of my nephews goes there to play with her. This is my favorite time too; while she’s playing I’m crocheting.

So I have always my thread and hook with me. When I go out, I usually bring a yarn of ball; its size is convenient to carry anywhere. I can make accessories in no time. It keeps me busy while my daughter is busy.

My mom loves to play facebook games, while waiting for customer. I remember she told me. “I want to learn how to crochet to keep me busy while waiting for the customer".

One time, while we we’re at my mother’s flower shop, while crocheting, my crochet ball rolled over on the floor and reached the door. My daughter ran for it and gave it back to me. I think she did that for 3 times till my mom asked

Do you have a pattern for this?

7 years ago I was always looking for a free crochet pattern over the internet. I can make a doily, clothes, anything about crochet for free. This is the reason why I built this blog, to help those crochet lover's like me who are constantly looking for a free crochet  pattern and to help them in their crochet journey.

Last week I found this doily in our closet. It is easy to crochet, I remember I had done this in one sitting. Problem is, I forget where I found this pattern. Can you help me?

Can you help me locate the owner of this doily?
Please leave the link in comment area. Thank you very much.

Bullion Stitch

I bought a bolero from bazaar 2 years ago. I know how to crochet but I bought this bolero for a reason, I wanted to learn this special techniques I had seen for the first time. I didn't even know what to call this stitch so I have been searching for a tutorial website to see if they have this kind of stitch. But I could not find it and I didn't even know the name of the stitch.

I've been imitating the design, trying to count every stitch it made from the bolero I bought. But I can not get the exact form. Sometime, I actually thought

She Undid My Crochet Project

Have you experienced having to undo your crochet project because you did it the wrong way? What if someone undid it for you without your knowing it?

It actually happened to me, my daughter undid my crochet project.

While my daughter was playing, I was crocheting. She usually plays beside me and all I have to do is listen to what she’s saying from time to time. This way I know what she’s doing while I crochet and listening to her noises lets me know that she's still busy playing. But sometimes when I am focused on counting the stitches, I forget that I am baby sitting.

I remember one time, she was playing  and asking me something while I was busy crocheting.  That time I was so focused on counting the stitches so I just said yes and nodded. She never left my side and I knew she was still playing since all her toys were beside me.

Why Do You Crochet?

Have you heard this question? If yes, how do you answer it?

In my crochet journey, I have heard this question many times already, even my loved ones asked me too. I just answered them,  “ It makes me happy” with a sweet smile on my face.

The colors and an image of a finished product in my mind make me smile. When I see a pattern that makes me excited,

Crochet Family : Meet-up

I joined this crochet community where we constantly talked about crocheting. Eventually we decided to meet-up in one place to get to know each other where we can share our patterns, knowledge and experiences.

I actually like this and I want to meet new friends with the same interest. But I am thinking what should I do when I meet them?

a.     Introduce my name, “Hi, I’m Girlie, I love to crochet”

b.     Hug them one by one and introduce myself “Hi I’m Girlie, I love to crochet”

Crochet Sensitive

My daughter loves to watch movies. One time she was watching Rapunzel, she called me and asked me to rewind the movie she was watching while I was busy crocheting

Crochet Miscount!

It's been 2 weeks since I started to work in our local governmanet as a volunteer. Since then I have only few minutes to do my hobby, crocheting.

When I get home, I have to cook dinner, clean the house, take care of my princess and help her do her homework. Sometimes I need to do light laundry. By the time I'm done it's 8:00 pm already, I'm tired and want to go to sleep. And while waiting for my princess to sleep, I will check my email, surf the net, check fb, and check my fan page: Girlie's Crochet and Crochet Lover in the Philippines. After that I continue my work in progress project.

This work in progress project is for my sister-in-law who will visit next month, September. So I was in a hurry and I have a few days left to finish it. I just finished the bodice (back, left and right front side), and 1 sleeve. So I am about to finish the 2nd sleeve which has only 4 rows left to stitch.

Last night when I was counting the rows, I was shocked. I miscounted

Growing Up In All Things: Crocheter Family

I remember when I was a kid, I experienced being bullied by another kid that sent me home crying. When my mother saw me crying, she said that I should not let anybody do that to me again, and if I can not protect myself and go home crying again, I should just stay home and play by myself. I was a small kid and I knew that there was a bigger possibility of this happening again. Instead of learning how to adjust to other's, I learned to stay at home alone... playing alone. Anyway there was a bonus, she told me that she can be my friend too.

In my growing up stage,I always stayed home and looked for something to keep me busy. Sometimes I read  books, learn how to do needlework and crochet. I soon discovered crochet is what I love most. Learning to crochet was, to me at my young age, my own private playground.

Purse Accessories

My sister-in-law gave me a gift, a very nice purse. When my other sister-in-law saw this purse, she told me that it would look prettier if I accessorize it, like a scarf on its handle. When I got home I realized, I could make a crochet accessory instead. So I looked for an idea on the internet for a pattern I could do.
Guess what, I found an illustration pattern. I found it on facebook, I don't know if this is a japanese or chinese pattern but it helped. Actually it was a pattern for a stole but I adjusted its length shorter than the original pattern so it would fit my purse's handle.

I think it looks great! Thank's Lala for the purse, and thank's Mandy for inspiring me to do this accessory.
