Free Crochet Pattern : Elegant Bolero
I know some
of you have many questions and inquiries on how I finished the elegant bolero.
I posted
this bolero on my blog 3 years ago, when I was not that familiar with my camera
yet and was not so sure how to take better pictures. I know that a lot of
people have a lot of questions inquiring as to how I finished the elegant
bolero. It has always been a source of joy and happiness for me to share my
crochet creations with others and be an inspiration to beginners as well.
Now I
have realized, after all this time, there are a lot of people with questions
regarding my creations and how I finished them. My apologies to those who have
asked me questions and did not get a reply from me. I am fairly new at
maintaining my website and I know that I need to learn more. I have also
realized that my website will need consistent and regular attention.
Therefore, I have appropriated a particular time of day where I will do work on my website on a regular basis so I can be more consistent and give more attention to my fellow crocheters.
I also
realized that I finished the elegant bolero and neglected to post how to finish
this. Again, my apologies to all that were left hanging and confused as to
finishing it. I was lost myself since the elegant bolero was made 3 years ago
and I had to backtrack and do it all over again. No worries, I actually had fun
doing it! I have now made amends and completed the task at hand.
I have made the necessary modifications to the pattern for the elegant bolero after re-creating the elegant bolero from the start to the end. I hope that this will help you in re-creating such a wonderful and fun project. I hope you will all enjoy this as much as I did, if not more.
Can you tell me how you did the trim around the outside. Are there written instructions for those of us not talented at reading the illustration?
ReplyDeletesorry for not replying sooner, i just posted the complete pattern for this project. Enjoy crocheting!!!
DeleteThanks for the completed pattern. I was struggling with the number of chains in each location and putting dc instead of sc is spots. Can you tell me how you sewed the pieces together? Did you sew them or crochet them together? How many stitches did you put in each chain section that you sewed together? Thanks!
ReplyDeletejust added the instruction for second motif and on how to join it to first motif....
DeleteHow do you fold and join the 8 motif to make the sleeves?
ReplyDeleteLook at the updated illustration and join the connected lines on each side. Please follow the instructions in second motif for each side.
DeleteBeautiful! What size hook and thread did you use?
ReplyDeleteI used #1 Stainless steel hook and cotton crochet thread
DeleteWhat size crochet thread did you use? 10?

DeleteI am not clear on size of motif.
ReplyDeleteI need clarification on the size of each motif. I am using a 3.75mm crochet hook. I want a small bolero for an adult.
ReplyDeleteI used 3.25mm crochet hook, equevalent to # 1 crochet hook here in the Philippines.
DeleteHi! I really love this design! I was wondering what size this bolero comes out to be and, for gauge reference, how big each of the motifs should come out to be. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteBy using a #1 hook, #8 cotton 4 ply thread, the motif size will be 6 inches by 6 inches. If you use the 3 ply cotton thread, the motif comes out to 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Beautiful! I saw the photo instructions for joining the motifs but could not find the written instructions. I don't see a seam in the pictures so I'm not sure how you joined the pieces(sewing needle or crochet hook?). Can you help me please?
ReplyDeleteAlso, what size (S, M, L) does this fit?
This is size small.
DeleteI just made a photo tutorial for your guidelines. Please refer to this link.... http://free-crochet-pattern-2009.blogspot.com/2013/01/how-to-join-motif.html#
Hi! This is a lovely pattern. I was just wondering how you would increase the size for a size large please?
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried a larger size yet but you can try to use thicker thread and bigger hook.
DeleteWell done! It looks so complicated... so delicate and lovely. Do I venture... will I find the courage...?
ReplyDeleteI love this bolero. It's on the directory at crochetatplay.com and I'm also going to future it on our Friday Freebie finds for the blog. blog.crochetatplay.com
ReplyDeleteIt will go live this friday the 19th!
Megan
Thank you Megan. I am honored and overjoyed that you have picked me as one of your features. Thank you very much.
DeleteI made this and, even with a couple slip-ups that I didn't catch until the end, it came out looking great. It was too small for me (I wear a M/L in shirts), but my skinny sis in law loves it. I'm going to try to again to make one for myself with a larger hook. Really beautiful pattern, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteHello, I would love to try this pattern!
ReplyDeletehowever, it is not clear to me which size steel hook should I use for this Bolero? 3mm, 5mm?
With kind regards,
Hilde
